Colour Reflective Fabric
Reflective light in colour, not only silver.
Reflective fabric that returns light in a chosen colour, so the reflective element can belong to the garment colourway instead of sitting on it as a silver stripe.
What we supply
Standard reflective fabric returns silver, which is why it usually reads as a safety trim. Colour reflective fabric returns the light in a colour instead, so the reflective element can be the same family as the garment — a red panel on a red jacket, fluorescent yellow where the high-visibility convention demands it, black where the trim should stay invisible until it is lit. The physics does not change: nothing is visible in darkness without a light source aimed at it. What changes is what the garment looks like in daylight, and what colour the return is when it does light up.

Red return, not silver
Colour Reflective Fabric — Red
RS-F-FB-14
The reflected light comes back red instead of the usual silver, so the panel reads as a red textile by day and lights up in red when a beam hits it.
- Red reflected light on a textile base
- Reads as red cloth in daylight
- Up to 140 cm wide
- Sewn or heat applied
- Colour matched against an approved sample

Neutral by day, bright on light
Colour Reflective Fabric — White
RS-F-FB-15
A white reflective textile: the closest thing to a neutral reflective cloth that still reads as white rather than silver-grey when no light is aimed at it.
- White reflected light on a textile base
- Reads as white cloth in daylight
- Up to 140 cm wide
- Sewn or heat applied
- Suits pale and pastel colourways

The concealed option
Colour Reflective Fabric — Black
RS-F-FB-16
Black in daylight, reflective when lit. This is the colourway that lets a reflective element sit on a black garment without announcing itself in daylight.
- Dark appearance in daylight
- Reflective return when a light is aimed at it
- Up to 140 cm wide
- Sewn or heat applied
- Used where the trim should stay hidden by day

Two signals in one panel
Colour Reflective Fabric — Fluorescent Orange-Red
RS-F-FB-17
Fluorescent orange-red carries high-visibility colour in daylight and a reflective return under light, so one panel covers both the daylight and the darkness case.
- Fluorescent orange-red base
- Reflective return under a light source
- Up to 140 cm wide
- Sewn or heat applied
- Suits workwear and roadside garments

The standard hi-vis pairing
Colour Reflective Fabric — Fluorescent Yellow
RS-F-FB-18
Fluorescent yellow with a reflective return — the colour used where the garment has to conform to a high-visibility colour convention and still work after dark.
- Fluorescent yellow base
- Reflective return under a light source
- Up to 140 cm wide
- Sewn or heat applied
- Colour matched against an approved sample

What buyers ask before specifying a coloured reflective fabric — how the colour behaves by day, what it does at night, and how colour matching works across a programme.
How is colour reflective fabric different from normal reflective fabric?
Normal reflective fabric returns silver-grey light. This one returns the light in a colour, so the reflective element can match or complement the garment instead of reading as a standard safety trim. The retroreflective mechanism is the same in both cases.
Is it visible in the dark without a light?
No. No retroreflective material emits light. It returns light back toward the source, so it appears bright when a headlight, torch or camera flash is aimed at it and stays dark otherwise. If the requirement is to be seen with no light source at all, that is a phosphorescent material, not a reflective one.
What does the fabric look like in daylight?
Each colour has its own daytime appearance. Red, white and black read as those colours on a textile; the fluorescent shades read as high-visibility orange-red and yellow. In every case the reflective return is a separate behaviour that only appears under a light.
How close can you match our garment colour?
Matching is done against a physical sample approved at order stage, not against a screen value. Send the garment swatch or its reference and the closest available colourway is proposed; where an exact match is not available, the nearest option is shown next to your sample so the decision is made on real material.
Which colours are stocked, and can others be produced?
The five colourways on this page — red, white, black, fluorescent orange-red and fluorescent yellow — are the range listed. Other colours depend on the base material and the quantity, so they are quoted case by case rather than listed here.
Does the colour affect the reflective brightness?
Yes. The colour sits in front of the reflective layer, so it absorbs light on the way in and again on the way out. Directly pigmented colour returns around 60–70 cd/(lx·m²), and the figure moves from batch to batch, so read it as a range rather than a guaranteed value. That is well below the 330 cd/(lx·m²) that EN ISO 20471 sets for retroreflective material, which means a coloured fabric cannot carry a 20471 claim on its own, however the garment is designed. Where the standard itself is the requirement, the reflective element is chosen for the standard rather than for colour. Colour is a daylight and design decision, and it is worth selecting on that basis.
Can it be sewn and heat applied like standard reflective fabric?
Both routes are used. Sewing suits panels and trims that get heavy wear; heat application suits clean flat areas and needs a press setting confirmed for the specific build, because the colour layer and the adhesive are affected differently by heat.
How does it wash?
Wash performance is confirmed per build against the wash programme supplied with the order. Abrasion is the main risk to both the colour layer and the reflective layer, so on high-wear areas the placement and the stitching matter as much as the material itself.
Do you manufacture this, or resell it?
We manufacture it. Colour reflective fabric is produced at our own factory and supplied direct for workwear, PPE and road safety programmes. That is why the colourway approved on your sample is the colourway that repeats on the order, and why a change of base or width is a production decision rather than a sourcing one.
What is the lead time?
Two to four weeks from confirmed specification for standard builds. Custom work - a colourway outside the five listed, a non-standard width, or a specified base - is quoted with its own date. Quantity affects scheduling, so the exact date is confirmed with the quotation.
Colour is matched against a sample approved at order stage; screen and press images are indicative, not a colour reference. Reflective performance depends on a light source being aimed at the panel — no reflective material is visible in complete darkness. Wash performance is confirmed against the wash programme supplied with the order.
Send the colourway and the panel.
Tell us the garment colour, the reflective colour required and the wash programme, and the answer comes back with the closest match, a price and a production date - standard builds run two to four weeks from confirmed specification.
