Road Safety Reflective Materials — Signs, Vehicles & Work Zones

Three ranges behind a road: reflective film for signs and work zones, conspicuity marking and warning plates for vehicles, and cast or calendered PVC for signage and graphics. 43 models across the three ranges, specified by grade and by model code.

Three Ranges

What Goes On the Road, In Three Ranges

One range is read by a driver approaching a sign. One is read from the side of a moving vehicle. One is read on a flat panel or a curved body. They are not interchangeable.

Which Range for Which Job

The grade sets the bead structure and the durability. The class is what the buyer, the fleet or the road authority actually checks.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between cast and calendered film?

Cast film conforms to curves, rivets and compound surfaces, which is why it is the choice for vehicle bodies and shaped panels. Calendered film is the economical choice for flat panels, where there is nothing to stretch over.

What roll width does the traffic film come in?

The traffic range is supplied at 1.22 m to 1.24 m standard roll width, in 45.7 m rolls. That width covers a standard sign face without a join, which is why the range is built around it rather than around narrower slits.

How long does the film last outdoors?

Three to five years is the outdoor range for the engineering and commercial traffic constructions. Cast signage film runs seven to nine years. The figure that applies to a specific job is confirmed against the construction chosen, not taken from the range as a whole.

Can the film be printed?

Yes, in two different ways. Printable reflective film is a construction in its own right, built so the face accepts ink rather than being printed afterwards. Signage PVC takes solvent, eco-solvent and UV inks as standard.

Which conspicuity grade do I need for a trailer?

The range covers national class I and class II sheeting for domestic roads, plus US DOT-C2 and ECE constructions for export vehicles. The grade follows the market the vehicle is registered in, so the destination decides it before the vehicle type does.

Do you supply warning plates for dangerous goods vehicles?

Yes. The hazardous goods warning plate is supplied as its own line alongside conspicuity marking, specified by model code. The plate follows the load category, which is a separate decision from the sheeting on the vehicle body.

Need a Grade Match or a Sample Roll?

Send the surface the film goes on, the market the vehicle or sign is registered in, and the life the job needs. We reply with the construction and the model code.
