Overview
A reflective harness vest for a dog, built on webbing rather than on the fabric alone so the hardware takes the load and the fluorescent panel does the seeing. A metal D-ring on the back gives a lead attachment point above the shoulders, and the chest band wraps the deepest part of the ribcage where a headlight hits it first.
Construction
- Fluorescent yellow-green panel with a silver retroreflective band around the chest
- Black woven webbing straps with adjustable side buckles
- Metal D-ring on the back for lead attachment
- Hook-and-loop closure at the chest and under the belly
- Cut to clear the front legs so the dog can walk and run without restriction
Sizing
Sizes are set by chest girth and neck measurement, confirmed at order stage. The straps adjust over a short range; the panel size itself is not adjustable, so the girth measurement is the number that decides the size rather than the breed.
Typical use
Walking a dog on an unlit lane or through a car park after dark, working and assistance dogs, and any dog that has to be visible near moving vehicles.
The webbing takes the load; the panel only has to be seen
No protective equipment standard covers a dog, so this is judged on the two things that can actually be checked: whether the hardware survives a pull, and whether a driver sees the animal in time. The load runs through the woven webbing and the metal D-ring, not through the fluorescent panel, which is why the straps are separate from the fabric rather than stitched into it as decoration. A dog is low to the ground, so the band sits at the height a dipped headlight reaches.
What to confirm before ordering
- Chest girth and neck measurement: Sizing is by measurement, not by breed or by weight. The panel itself does not adjust; only the straps do.
- Load path: State the size and pull of the dog, so the webbing and D-ring are matched to it rather than to the fabric.
- Where the band sits relative to a headlight: A low band is what a dipped beam reaches. Confirm the height on the sample.
- Closure type: Hook-and-loop at the chest and under the belly. Confirm it clears the front legs.
Compliance note
No protective equipment standard covers an animal, so nothing here should be read as a certified protection level. What is specified is the construction: woven webbing and a metal D-ring carrying the load, a fluorescent panel for daylight, and a retroreflective band for a headlight. Whether that is enough for an unlit lane is a judgement about the road, and it is improved by the band being at the height a dipped beam reaches rather than by the panel being larger.
