Safety glasses where the lens has to stay clean

Two builds cover most site eye hazards: a wrap-around spectacle for direct wear, and an over-glasses frame that fits over a prescription pair. The difference is not styling, it is whether the lens sits close to the eye or has to clear another set of temples.

What we supply

Eye protection gets specified by the hazard, not by the frame. Impact from grinding and chipping, dust and fine particulate, and splash are three different requirements, and a pair that passes one is not automatically good for the others. What the two builds below change is the coverage envelope.

The wrap-around sits close to the face with continuous side coverage, so it blocks the peripheral angle most nuisance dust comes in from. The over-glasses build trades that tight envelope for enough internal clearance to wear over a prescription frame, which is the usual reason people take safety glasses off on site.

Wrap-Around Safety Glasses

Coverage at the edge of vision

Wrap-Around Safety Glasses

RS-P-GS-01

A single clear lens that curves back to the temples, so there is no gap at the side where dust enters. Light frame, direct wear, no second pair underneath.

  • One-piece clear lens with continuous side coverage
  • Close fit to the brow and cheek for particulate
  • Direct wear, no prescription clearance
  • Light enough to stay on for a full shift

Over-Glasses Safety Spectacles

RS-P-GS-02

A deeper frame with internal clearance so a prescription pair sits underneath. This is the build that stops people quietly taking their safety glasses off.

  • Internal clearance for a prescription frame
  • Deeper lens to keep the field of view usable
  • Wide temple clearance so the two frames do not pinch
  • Clear lens, no tint change under site lighting

FAQ | Common questions

What buyers usually ask before specifying eye protection.

Can I wear these over my prescription glasses?

Only the over-glasses build is designed for that. The wrap-around pair is a direct-wear spectacle and has no internal clearance, so putting it over another frame distorts the fit and opens gaps at the side.

Are clear lenses enough for outdoor work?

Clear is the right choice where colour perception and reading detail matter, and for most overcast outdoor work. In sustained glare a tinted lens reduces fatigue, but a tint changes what you see, so it is a separate specification rather than an upgrade.

Do these protect against chemical splash?

Impact and splash are different requirements. A spectacle with side coverage reduces the angle splash can reach the eye but does not seal against it. Where splash is the hazard, a sealed goggle or a face shield is the correct specification.

What impact rating do they carry?

That is confirmed at order stage against the standard you work to. The same frame can be supplied with different lens specifications, so quoting a single rating on the page would be misleading.

Will they fog up?

Any close-fitting eye protection fogs when the wearer moves between temperatures. Anti-fog coating reduces it but does not remove it. For work that alternates between cold and warm areas, an anti-fog lens specification is worth requesting at order stage.

How do I clean them without damaging the lens?

Rinse grit off first, then wipe with a soft cloth. Wiping dust off a dry lens is what scratches the coating, and a scratched lens loses both clarity and its surface treatment.

Can the lens be replaced on its own?

On a one-piece wrap lens the lens is the front of the frame, so it is not a separate service part. Replacement is by unit.

What is the minimum order?

It depends on the build and the marking you need. Tell us the quantity you are planning and we will confirm what is workable rather than quote a number that changes by specification.

Note on standards. Impact rating, optical class and marking are confirmed against the standard you specify at order stage. We do not quote a rating on this page because the same frame can be supplied to different lens specifications.

Need a sample pair?

Tell us the hazard, the standard you work to, and whether the wearer uses prescription glasses. We will confirm the build and the marking before you specify it across a site.
