Overview
Reflective fabric yarn with the reflective face on both sides and a polyester backing. The heaviest build in the range: it keeps a reflective face through a full twist and holds up where the yarn is worked hard.
Single-side yarn loses its effect the moment the strand twists, because the face turns inward. A double-side build keeps a reflective face whichever way the twist lands, which is what makes it usable in braided cord and exposed trim rather than only in flat applications.

Where the backing earns its place
The polyester backing is not there for strength alone. A bare film build abrades where a cord rubs against a bag edge or a hem, and once the reflective face is scuffed it stops returning light. The backing absorbs that wear and keeps the face intact, which is why this build is specified for exposed trim rather than for trim that sits protected inside a seam.
Typical use
Braided cord, bag webbing, exposed trim and any structure where both faces are visible.
It is also used where the yarn is handled repeatedly in assembly — lacing, drawcords and zip pulls — because the face survives handling that would dull a single-side build.
What to confirm before ordering
- Finished diameter: the yarn is made to order from ≥0.5 mm — give the cord or trim diameter you need rather than a yarn count.
- Twist direction and count: this determines how much of the reflective face stays visible along the strand.
- Exposure: state whether the yarn is exposed or enclosed; it changes whether the backing is needed.
- Reflective layer: silver or high reflective tape — the choice follows the brightness you need.
- Colour: grey as standard; confirm if the daytime appearance has to match a specific trim.
Compliance note
A narrow-format element like this is a design component, not a retroreflective material in its own right. Its reflectance is measured on a flat surface, and a yarn presents a curved and interrupted face, so it is not specified against the 330 cd/(lx·m²) floor on its own.
It is normally used alongside a compliant panel rather than instead of one. If the trim is meant to contribute to a visible area, confirm the intended construction before the sample is approved.
