Overview
A photoluminescent film for signage that has to stay readable when the lighting fails. The film charges from ambient light and emits a yellow-green glow, so an escape route, warning panel or low-level marker still reads after power loss.
Key features
- Photoluminescent layer charges from ambient light and glows without power
- Yellow-green emission, the most visible photoluminescent colour
- PET and acrylic face options across the series
- Printable surface for legends and pictograms
- Five year outdoor durability
- Aligned with DIN 67510 and JIS Z 9107 photoluminescent standards

Common questions
How does a photoluminescent film work?
It absorbs energy from ambient light and releases it slowly as visible light once the light source is gone. No power, wiring or battery is involved.
What is the difference between the RS9100 and RS9200 series?
RS9100 uses a PET face and RS9200 uses an acrylic face. Both are photoluminescent and share the same roll size and colour.
Can it be printed?
The surface is printable, so legends and pictograms can be applied.
Which standards does it reference?
The series references DIN 67510 and JIS Z 9107 for photoluminescent performance.

Signage glow is specified by escape time
Photoluminescent signage is judged on how long it stays legible after the lights fail, which depends on the charging light level as much as on the film. Confirm the charging condition the specification assumes.
What to confirm before ordering
- Substrate: flat panel, aluminium, plastic or vehicle body - the adhesive follows the surface.
- Service life and exposure: indoor, outdoor or road-facing, and for how many years.
- Grade: commercial, engineering or high intensity, chosen against viewing distance rather than price.
- Regulation in scope: signage and vehicle marking rules are separate from garment standards.
Compliance note
Photoluminescence and retroreflection are different mechanisms. A glow surface stores light and releases it slowly; it does not return a beam to its source, so it is not a qualifying retroreflective material under EN ISO 20471 and cannot be counted toward a hi-vis claim.
Both effects can appear on one garment but are assessed separately: glow for visibility after dark with no light source, a plain silver element for retroreflection. Afterglow is confirmed per build, not assumed.
