Overview
Reflective thread fine enough to run through an embroidery head or a knitting machine, so a logo, a stitch line or a pattern starts reflecting without a separate trim being applied. Polyester, from 0.25 mm.

What it changes
Thread puts reflection inside the existing decoration instead of beside it: an embroidered logo that reflects, a knit line that lights up. Tension and needle choice matter more than with a normal thread, so a test on the real machine is worth doing before a production run.
Thread fails at the needle, not on the garment
Reflective thread is stiffer than embroidery cotton, so the practical limits are needle size, stitch density and machine speed. Confirm the settings you intend to run before approving a design - a pattern that sews cleanly in cotton can shred a reflective thread.
What to confirm before ordering
- Finished diameter: made to order from ≥0.5 mm - give the cord or trim size you need.
- Twist and construction: determines how much reflective face stays visible.
- Exposure: state whether the yarn is exposed or enclosed; it decides whether a backing is needed.
- Reflective layer: silver or high reflective tape, chosen against the brightness you need.
Compliance note
No single retroreflective figure is quoted for this build, and a number without its test method and wash cycle would not be comparable anyway. Confirm the measured value for the grade you order, on the substrate you order it on.
If the finished article has to carry an EN ISO 20471 or ANSI/ISEA 107 claim, say so before the order: the grade and the evidence are chosen together, and changing either afterwards means a new build.
